Organisation

The Belgian Society for Infectiology and Clinical Microbiology was founded officially in 1991, but found its routs in informal and formal meetings of Belgian microbiologists, clinicans and other healthcare professionals interested and active in the field of infectious dieases and anti-infective therapy. Belgium has always been a place where infectious diseaseshas been taught and anti-infective therapy exercised to very high scientific standards, as witnessed by the Belgian particicpation in international meetings and by the organisation of many national courses, seminars and eductional meetings.

The Belgian Society for Infectiology and Clinical Microbiology was founded to consolidate at a national level the many individiual initiatives taken by its founding members in this field.
