Organisatie

De Belgische Vereniging voor Infectiologie en Klinische Microbiologie (BVIKM) is opgericht in 1991, maar vindt haar oorsprong in een aantal formele en informele ontmoetingen tussen Belgische microbiologen en clinici en andere professionelen uit de gezondheidszorg met een bijzondere interesse voor en actief in de wereld van de infectieziekten en de anti-infectieuze therapie. België is steeds een plaats geweest waar over anti-infectieuze therapie werd nagedacht en waar ze werd uitgevoerd met respect voor zeer hoge kwalitatieve normen. Getuigen daarvan zijn de kwaliteit van de Belgische deelnames aan internationale ontmoetingen en de organisatie van talrijke nationale cursussen en vergaderingen.

De BVIKM is opgericht met de bedoeling de talrijke ter zake genomen individuele initiatieven van de stichters te consolideren op nationaal niveau.
